Cathay Pacific operates four classes – Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First – and in Economy breaks down its inventory into three separate branded fares based on flexibility rather than seat:

• Economy Light: The least expensive option for getting an Economy seat, which offers cabin baggage and one piece of checked luggage on most flights, except for seat assignment, which carries additional charges and is the most restrictive of the three Economy classes when it comes to changing and refunding your booking. Ideal for passengers with firm plans that will not require altering their booking.
• Economy Essential: The mid-level Economy class, offering free standard seat allocation and a higher Asia Miles earning rate compared to Light, but still charging for any changes in dates and routing. The choice to consider by default.
• Economy Flex: The most flexible Economy fare, offering free or cheap changes, a strong refunding option, and fastest Asia Miles collection among Economy classes. Worth the extra cost for all passengers whose travel dates are still open for change.
• Premium Economy: An independent cabin (not only a fare) with a wider recliner-style seat, increased legroom, improved meal service, and possibly increased baggage allowance on some aircraft. It provides an authentic midway point between Economy and Business Class cabins.
• Business Class: Divided into Saver and Flex. The latest offering from Cathay in this cabin class is the Aria Suite: the fully enclosed lie-flat seat with direct aisle access, along with lounge access, priority boarding, and a multi-course meal service. Saver includes the seat and more restrictive change/refund policies; Flex includes the seat but does away with the former restrictions.
• First Class: Limited to only a few selected long-haul routes flown by Cathay, First Class offers the biggest personal suite, separate cabin crew, chauffeur service in select cities, and the highest accrual of Asia Miles amongst all other Cathay classes.
